SEMINAR 9. MOOCs

A massive open online course (MOOC ) is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web. In addition to traditional course materials such as filmed lectures, readings, and problem sets, many MOOCs provide interactive user forums to support community interactions among students, professors, and teaching assistants (TAs). MOOCs are a recent and widely researched development in distance education which were first introduced in 2006 and emerged as a popular mode of learning in 2012.


Canvas network

Anyone with an email address can enroll in a course on Canvas Network. Canwas may offer a certificate of participation or completion. What I liked the most about this resource is the fact that there are so many free courses to choose from. Scrolling through the free courses I found one I'd like to study - "PYTHON PROGRAMMING FOR EVERYBODY".

 CourseraEvery course on Coursera is taught by top instructors from the world’s best universities and educational institutions. Courses include recorded video lectures, auto-graded and peer-reviewed assignments, and community discussion forums. When you complete a course, you’ll receive a sharable electronic Course Certificate. It's great there are courses in Russian.

It is the only leading MOOC provider that is both nonprofit and open source.

I'd like to take the course 'Video Game Design'.

What I'll Learn: 

• The origin and evolution of game mechanics and its effective integration into video games 
• The design process and method of balancing a game's design and mechanics for optimum effect 
• How different industry roles collaborate to produce, market, and ship a video game 
• How engines and different assets are created and brought together to build a video game 
• How to create some simple elements of running game code
